Ruth Pretty B.Ed(Hons), MAR, ITEC, dip ION, memBANT, NTC, CNHC

Ruth's professional background is originally teaching, she trained as a teacher for mentally handicapped children and taught within the education system for twelve years. She became interested in holistic therapies when her eldest son developed eczema and asthma and was consequently successfully treated. As a result of this in 1992 she trained as an aromatherapist and reflexologist (International Therapy Examinations Council - ITEC; Association of Reflexologists - AOR) and has been practising ever since. Ruth is a Reiki Level 1 and 2 practitioner. These balancing techniques encourage healing and relaxation on physical, emotional and mental levels. Ruth's philosophy is on balancing the WHOLE - mind, body and soul.

Ruth is also a Nutrition Therapist with a licence to practice since 2003 from the Institute for Optimum Nutrition in London ( ION ). It is one of the foremost nutritional institutes in the country and draws on the most up to date scientific research. Her qualification is highly recognised in leading nutrition circles. She is also a member of the British Association of Nutrition Therapists (BANT) and the Nutritional Therapy Council (NTC) and is a registered practitioner with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).

Her 4 year training covered physiology, biochemistery, pathology and diagnostic techniques which help to determine each individual's nutritional needs. No one size fits all, Ruth is trained to look at your symptoms and identify the root causes. By approaching all health concerns in this manner, you get to see how the body is underfunctioning and where the support is needed.

So whichever system is underfunctioning - whether it is skeletal, muscular, nervous, respiratory, immune, endocrine or hormones, cardiovascular, digestive, reproductive or excretory, Optimum Health has been repeatedly shown to be achieved through nutritional changes and lifestyle approaches. By making the correct changes to your diet and adding in healing supplements you are on the way to Optimum Health.

Together with Reflexology and Aromatherapy Ruth aims to offer a truly holistic approach to long term health. She feels very strongly that it's about getting the body back in balance, embracing the mind, body and soul. Her positive, empathetic approach embraces this mindfulness. We often know we don't "feel right", we just don't know what to do about it. This is where Nutrition Therapy offers great insights into how your body is underfunctioning. By looking at your symptoms, Ruth can analyse the systems that are underlying the cause and put in place a workable programme to suit YOU.

Ruth now operates a successful private practice in Worcester. She writes recipes for companies and websites, holds workshops, speaks on local radio and gives talks to local groups. She is passionate about her work taking pride in giving her clients the chance to take control of their lives in easily changeable ways to bring about a  feeling of well being and vitality.
